Author: Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa'dee
The book before you is an exegesis of the greatest Soorah or Chapter of the Qur'aan by one of the excellent scholars of the Ummah, Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa'dee, may the Mercy of Allaah be upon him.
The statement of Allaah with the meaning: The Extremely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy, Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sadee said: Ar-Rahmaan (The Extremely Merciful) and Ar-Raheem (the Bestower of Mercy) are two names which show that He, the Most High, possesses the attribute of vast and tremendous Mercy (ar-Rahmah), which is such that it encompasses everything, and covers every living thing. He furthermore, decreed it for His pious and obedient servants who keep their duty to Him those who follow His Prophets and Messengers: for them there is unrestricted Mercy; whereas the rest of the people receive only a portion of His Mercy.
Ibn Baaz said, regarding a group called Jamaa’at ul-Jihaad that is involved in terrorism and suicide bombings, "... they are not to be co-operated with, nor are they to be given salutations. Rather, they are to be cut off from, and the people are to be warned against their evil. Since they are a fitnah (tribulation/trial) and are harmful to the Muslims, and they are the brothers of the Devils (Shayateen)!"
This 35 page book is a clarification of the position of Islaam towards these extremely important topics that are afflicting the Muslim Ummah today. It clearly shows the evil of hijackings and the like as well as a clear insight into the false and rebellious methodology of Usaamah Ibn Laaden. The book is excellent for Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

The great Imaam and scholar, Ibn Katheer, said about his teacher Ibn Taymiyyah,
"And the least he would do when he heard something was to memorise it, and then engage himself in learning in it. He was intelligent and had committed much to memory. He became an Imaam in tafseer and everything related to it. He was also knowledgeable in fiqh, and it was said that he was more knowledgeable of the fiqh of the madhhabs, than the followers of those very same madhhabs, (both) in his time and other than his time. He was a scholar of the fundamental issues (usool), the subsidiary issues (furoo'), of grammar, language and other textual and intellectual sciences,. And no scholar of a science would speak to him except that he thought that the science was the speciality of Ibn Taymiyyah. As for hadeeth, then he was the carrier of its flag, a haafidh, able to distinighuish the weak from the strong, and fully acquainted with the narrators." Taken from al-Bidaayah wan-Nihaayah of Ibn Katheer (14/118-119).

And al-Haafidh adh-Dhahabee, another of his students said of him in Tadhkiratul-Huffaadh, "And he was amongst the oceans of knowledge, from the limited intellectuals, the ascetics, the unique individuals, the great braves, the most generous nobles. He was praised both by the one who agreed with him and the one who differed with him and he became famous by his works - and perhaps they numbered three hundred volumes." And he also said in Mu'jamush-Shuyookh (1/56-57), "Ahmad ibn Abdul-Haleem, ibn Abdis-Salaam, ibn Abdullaah, ibn Abul-Qaasim, ibn Taymiyyah - our Shaikh, the Imaam, Taqeeyud-Deen, Abul-Abbaas, al-Harraanee: the matchless individual of the time with respect to knowledge and cognisance, intelligence, memorisation, generosity, asceticism, excessiveness braveness and abundance of (written) works."
Before the reader is an explanation of Soorah al-Kawthar, given by this great Imaam, Ibn Taymiyyah. In it, he explains the vast meaning contained in the Soorah despite its brevity.

All Praise is for Allah, the Lord of all creation, and may He extol and send blessings of peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who delivered the clear message, and upon his true followers, his Companions, and those who follow them upon good until the Day of Requital. To proceed: Then many people are ignorant about many of the rulings concerning the Sujoodus-Sahw when it is obligatory upon them; others perform the prostration in other than its correct place; some perform it before the salaam (salutation at the end of the prayer) even in cases when it has to be performed after the salaam; others prostrate after the salaam even when it should be performed before it. Therefore, it is very important to become aware of its rulings, especially for the Imaams whom the people follow in their prayers, and who have therefore taken on the responsibility of following that which is correct and prescribed in their prayers, and of leading the Muslims upon that. So I wished to put before my brothers some of the rulings in this regard, hoping that Allah, the Most High, will cause it to be of benefit to His believing servants. The scholars of the early and later times agreed by consensus (ijmaa') that the fundamentals which are accepted and counted for establishment of rulings, and for clarification of what is permissible and what is forbidden are: Firstly, that which occurs in the Mighty Book of Allaah, which is not approached by falsehood from any direction. And also the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger, Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the one who did not speak from his desires, rather he spoke with Revelation inspired. And then the consensus (ijmaa') of the scholars of the Muslims.

Thereafter the scholars differ with regard to other fundamentals, the most important of which is 'al-Qiyaas' (analogy), and the majority of the people of knowledge hold that it is a proof as long as its accepted conditions are present. Then the proofs for these principles are more than can be counted and are well-known. The treatise in front of you discusses in particular the second fundamental regarding the obligation of adhering to the Sunnah of the Messenger (salallaahu ‘alayhi wassallam), its importance as mentioned in the Qur’aan, the Prophetic narrations and the statements of the early Scholars and the fact that its rejection is unbelief.

Before you O reader, are ten parables from the Qur'aan wherein our Lord and Creator, the One Alone deserving of our worship, has revealed parables by which we may be guided to His worship and servitude and warned against associating partners in worship alongside Him. He, the Most High, has stated:
"See you not how Allaah sets forth a parable?.."
The parables are explained by Imaam As-Sa'dee in a manner that causes one to reflect and one's Eemaan to be strengthened and increased. As Imaam As-Sa'dee, may Allaah's Mercy be upon him, states:
"So giving parables which show concepts in the light of physical examples enables the meaning which Allaah intended to become fully clear and apparent."
We pray that Allaah, the Most High, brings about benefit by way of this beautiful explanation of Imaam As-Sa'dee.
