Benefit: Your Manhaj Must Be Upright

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī: The Muslim must comibne two things: between being sincere with his intentions for the sake of Allāh, The Exalted, and following the example of that which the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was a upon. Likewise, it is not sufficient that the Muslim is sincere and earnest concerning his objective with regards to acting upon the book [Qurʾān] and the Sunnah, and calling towards it, rather it must be added that his manhaj [methodology] be sound and upright.

Benefit: Fighting against the Khawārij Is Rewarded!

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Question: What is the meaning behind—the authentically agreed upon narration from the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)—when he said: There will arise near the end of time a people who are young in age with foolish, deficient intellects, they will speak with the speech of the best of creations, their īmān (faith) will not go beyond their throats, they will leave Islām just as the arrow goes through its game. So wherever you find them, fight them, for verily there will be a reward on the day of Judgment for the ones who fight them.

About whom was this narration mentioned about? And which time frame was the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) indicating?

Answer: This narration and that which is in it was said by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) about a sect who are called 'al-Khawārij' due to their extremism in the religion and their expelling of Muslims (from Islām) because of sins which do not take someone out of Islām. They also rebelled against ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allāh be pleased with him) and they refuted him on particular issues, so he (ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib) called them to the truth and debated them. Many of them returned to the truth and some of them remained (upon their false ideology). So when the aggression against the Muslims past its limit, ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allāh be pleased with him) fought them and the Muslim leaders who came after him fought them as well, in accordance with the narration mentioned (in the question) and its meaning. There are remnants (of the Khawārij) till this very day, and the ruling upon them is general to everyone who holds their (Khārijī) beliefs in every time and place.

The Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Fatāwá

Translator's note: Without a doubt, a crucial method of fighting against the Khawārij (terrorist, renegades) is by speaking and writing against them at any and every given muʿmīnt of opportunity, as our Scholars and their scholars and so on have been doing for centuries. There are many ways you could help your community, by collaborating with them in handing out material on the subject matter of terrorism and its ill effects or simply by guiding them to those who may help in educating them about the true Islamic beliefs with regards to the khawārij.

Audio: Shedding Light on the Books of the Salaf

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shedding Light on the Books of the Salaf

A lecture series by our beloved brother Abū ʿUways (raḥimahullāh) wherein he delves into a 3 part series entitled Shedding Light on the Books of the Salaf in ʿAqīdah. He begins by explaining the statement of Ibn Taymīyyah regarding dealing with innovations and the people of innovation. There are people who claim to be upon Salafīyyah, but they are in a completely different direction when it comes to making clear the errors of innovators and their innovation. The harmful effect from not making clear the errors of the people of innovation is that the youth begin to defend, become jealous of, and even protect the people of innovation and their innovations. Moreover, he explains how some may even protect the innovators more than they protect the Sunnah and the people of the Sunnah.

Benefit: The People of Desires Either Distort or Negate the Aḥādīth That Oppose Them

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaymīn (raḥimahullāh) mentioned: Know that the position of the people of innovation and desires with regards to the Aḥadīth that oppose their desires fall under two circumstances: they either negate the Ḥadīth or they distort [its meaning].

If they are able to negate the Ḥadīth then they do so, like their false principle, that the āḥād Ḥadīth [singular narrations] pertaining to ʿaqīdah are not accepted. Ibn al-Qayyim (raḥimahullāh) has refuted this futile principle with many pieces of evidence in the latter part of [his book titled] Mukhtaṣar al-Ṣawāʿiq. And likewise, If they are not able to negate it, they distort it, like they distort the texts of the Qurʾān.

Translator's note: The Shaykh alludes to the example of the Qurʾān because the people of innovation and desires cannot falsify the Qurʾān, so they distort its meanings to suit their desires.
