Benefit: Knowledge Is Amānah

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh Ṣaliḥ ibn al-Fawzān, may Allāh preserve him, said:1 This knowledge is trust; (and certainly) not a property of yours that you amass and withhold from the people while they stand in need of it. So, it is your duty to convey it, to clarify it, and to call others to good. The Most High says: «(And remember) when Allāh took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) to make it (the news of the coming of Prophet Muḥammad, may Allāh raise his rank and grant him peace, and the religious knowledge) known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it.»2

Benefit: So, You're Impressed by the Lunacy of Jihadist Beheadings?

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

In a sidebar benefit recorded in Masjid Raḥmah (approx. 2002), during a series of classes on al-ʿAqīdah al-Wāsitiyyah, our beloved brother Abu ʿUways (raḥimahullāh) addresses some foolish individuals who were amused upon hearing about the khawārij beheading a non-Muslim in Saudi al-ʿArabīa who was under the protection of the Kingdom. Abū 'Uways (رحمه الله), refutes the takfīrī ideology and goes on to discuss that our ummah is not a nation of unjust killings; it is a nation of mercy. Our beloved Messenger (ﷺ), taught us not to harm an animal unjustly, let alone a human being.

Narrated by Ibn 'Umar (رضي الله عنه): "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'A woman entered the Fire because of a cat which she had tied, neither giving it food nor setting it free to eat from the vermin of the earth.'" (Reported Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 4, Book 54, No. 535.)

Narrated by Abū Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه): "The Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'A prostitute was forgiven by Allāh, because while passing by a panting dog near a well she saw that the dog was about to die of thirst, so she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover, she drew out some water for it. So, Allāh forgave her because of that.'" (Reported in Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 4, Book 54, No. 538.)

Narrated by 'Abdullāh ibn 'Amr (رضي الله عنه): "The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Whoever killed a Mu'ahid [a person who is granted the pledge of protection by the Muslims] shall not smell the fragrance of paradise though its fragrance can be smelt at a distance of forty years [of traveling].'" (Reported in Ṣaḥiḥ Bukhārī, Vol. 9, Book 83, No. 49.)

Indeed, we do not rejoice in the unjust killings of Muslims or non-Muslims, this is not victory. Victory lies in applying the Qur'an and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf us-Sālih.

Benefit: Harm None

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Al-Fuḍayl ibn ʿIyād stated: By Allāh, you are not permitted to inflict harm on a dog or a pig without just cause. How could you then harm a Muslim?1

Benefit: All of You

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Allāh, the Most High, says: «Man is certainly in loss!»1

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ b. al-Fawzān, may Allāh preserve him, comments:2

“al-Insān” refers to all of Ādam’s descendents. He did not exclude anyone: not the kings nor the leaders, not the affluent nor the destitute, not the free nor the slaves, not the males nor the females. The “al” in “al-Insān” is all-inclusive: so, all the descendents of Ādam are in loss and destruction should they dissipate this precious time and utilize it in disobedience to Allāh..1

Community Outreach Programme

Some of the brothers and sisters at TROID have been conducting a Community Outreach Programme over the last year al-Ḥamdulillāh. The programme involves the creation and maintenance of a google sheet with names and contact info for brothers and sisters in the community, particularly targeting young and new Muslims. The goal is to invite them to the masjid, the lessons, seminars and classes. Occasionally, special events are created to bring people out to the masjid along with a dinner. In summary, it is an excellent programme that has increased the love and brotherhood/sisterhood in the community.

This was an event from this past Winter:

And here is some recent feedback from the Sisters coordinator:

sisters cop

May Allāh reward the brothers and sisters who contribute to this monthly outreach programme. You can start a similar project in your community. It only takes a few hours a month to make calls and update a shared google sheet. In many cases, those simple phone calls have a very emotional effect on people, just to know that someone cares enough to reach out and see how they are coping, offering support and brotherhood/sisterhood. Many people in communities are converts or alone without family, they are in need of support and encouragement. We ask Allāh to make our intentions purely for his sake and to bless this noble effort.

Benefit: Remain Seated after the Obligatory Prayers

In the Name of Allāh, the Ever Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

Shaykh ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Bāz mentioned:

The sitting after the taslīm in the prescribed prayers is from the most important times, in which the mercy of Allāh descends (upon his slaves).

Do not hastily get up, rather seek forgiveness from Allāh, glorify Him, praise Him, and magnify Him.

Ibn Baṭṭal (raḥimahullāh) said:

Whoever has many sins and desires that Allāh remove these sins from him without burdening himself, then let him seize this opportunity and remain seated in his place after the prayer, so that he may take advantage of the supplications from the Angels and their asking forgiveness for him.

Project: Sponsor Canadian Students of Knowledge

One of TROID's Most Important Projects - Support it this Ramaḍān!!

As noted in the Support Our Projects page, we plan to support some Canadian students of knowledge whilst they study abroad. This may involve a $250/month or so in support up to 5 students. This is permanent plan to help establish students of knowledge in Canada in shāʾ Allāh, always having 2-4 students at a time studying. We are giving a lot of importance to this project as it is the lifeline of a strong commmunity and daʿwah, now and into the future, in shāʾ Allāh. The sum being allocated to each student is minimal. It is hoped that it will provide some needed support for transit to and from scholars' lessons, books, cellular bills, food and simple basic needs.

The members of this project will also work on a student blog to update the community on their studies, with a timeline and advice and tips for future students. Many of those who make the noble sacrifice to seek knowledge are not well off or recipients of wealthy stipends, they are young brothers struggling in the path of knowledge with minimum resources afford to them. This project invests in the future of the daʿwah in Canada in shāʾ Allāh.

Operating Expenese: $1500 per month (approx.) | $18,000/yr. (paypal info@troid.ca to support [notes: sponsor a student] or contact us for more details)
